Visitors and locals in Phuket can mark the beginning of the New Year by attending the 2012 Phuket Red Cross Fair at Saphan Hin Park.
Also known as the New Year’s Fair, the event is being held from January 1st to 7th 2012 and will provide activities for all the family, with carnival attractions, numerous stalls and live entertainment.
Attendees will be able to shop for arts and crafts, try out local delicacies created by the many food vendors or enjoy funfair-style games, with entry set to be free of charge.
When the evening rolls in, a programme of live music and dance shows will commence each night, while guests can also spend 100 baht (£2) to purchase a ticket to the fair’s lottery.
Last year, the grand prize was a brand new house in Phuket worth one million baht, with all proceeds from ticket sales going to the Thai Red Cross.
The organisation is dedicated to providing money for good causes across the region, including lending assistance to those affected by the recent floods in Thailand.
Activities get underway around 15:30 local time each day, as the hot weather starts to cool down.
