On June 15 – at the Phuket Airport of Thailand’s conference room, Duangjai Kondee, the Airport Director said “Phuket International Airport has plans to improve the airport for passengers as much as possible. These plans include escalators, elevators, check-in counters, more W/Cs, bigger seating areas and the general cleanliness of the airport.
We expect to see results very soon. The first thing to do is to facilitate the passenger’s needs. There is now a committee in place to oversee the previously mentioned issues along with overseeing the expansion of the arrival – departure terminals for passenger comfort reasons. These matters need to be resolved before this high season.
For safety reasons we have immediately focused on improving the security system with the addition of 53 CCTV cameras to add to the 56 already installed.”
Duangjai added “we also have to consider the greeting area. However, for this to be improved we will need to speak to and involve the Phuket Hotel Association and Tour Guide Association. The busiest time for arrivals is between 8pm. to 11pm and it is for then that we need more seating and W/Cs. At the moment we’re studying with the committee about W/Cs.”
