Russian Ambassador visits Russian Consulate for Phuket, Krabi, & Phang Nga

On May 8th 2010, Mr. Alexander Mariyasov, the Russian Ambassador in Thailand, visited the Russian Consulate for Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi, at Malisa Villa Hotel near Kata Beach.

The ambassador was warmly welcomed by Mr. Soopakij Chearavanont, Honorary Consul for Russia in Phuket, Phang Nga, and Krabi; Mr. Virachai Virameteekul, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office; Mr Smith Palawatwichai, a Vice Governor of Phuket, Russian residents & tourists and honorable guests.

During the trip, the Russian Ambassador checked about assistance for Russian tourists in Phuket, Phang Nga, and Krabi, provided by the consulate.

Question for readers:

Do you think Russian tourists are becoming a major market for tourism in Phuket and do local staff and officials communicate well enough with them?
