‘Ruampon Kon Rak Phuket’ event being held to ignore the island sinking rumours on April 28th

( 25 April 2012) At a meeting with high ranking officials yesterday, Mr. Tri, Phuket’s governor, mentioned about the recent quakes in Phuket, which have damaged houses in Thalang areas and more importantly there have been rumours spread out all over the island about the sinking of Phuket on April 28th.

Mr Tri said, “In order to regain the confidence of locals and tourists, there will be an event ‘Ruampon Kon Rak Phuket’ held on April 28th, an event organised by many businesses and locals from Phuket. The event will take place at Sri Sunthon’s municipality in Thalang district. The event will feature a variety of activities and shows, as well as the placing of a ‘Thank you’ sign, which is to thank all the tourists who have continued to come to Phuket despite the rumours.”
The governor also said that the situation regarding earthquakes is now back to normal.
