PTTEP recently reported to Phuket Governor to continue exploration for oil in Andaman

Mr.Bundit Chaisilboon, Manager for PTTEP’s oil exploration sites A4/48, A5/48 and A6/48 off the Andaman shore met Phuket’s Governor Vichai Praisa-ngob on 17 December, 2009 to report its progression.

The first period (February 2007 – February 2010) is set for the petroleum geological exploration and to study environmental effects by using Two-Dimensional Seismic Reflection Methods. The second period will start from February 2010 – 2013.

According to the research result of the first period, the company decided to continue the exploration project in Andaman. Oil drilling to follow after they have carefully consider the potential of the area. Less potential concession area will be returned to Department of Mineral Fuels.
