PPA to open a Baba Museum in Phuket

Dr Koson Tangu-tai, the President of Phuket Peranakan Association (PPA), said that the association plan to restore the old buildings of Charter Bank and Talad Yai Police Station to be a Baba Museum. The purpose of the museum is to glorify HRH Princess Sirinthorn and to collect the historical items concerned with Phuket’s original ways of life and show them to Phuket residents and tourists.

Recently, at the Old Phuket Town and Chinese New Year Festival held during Feb 19th – 21st, 2010, the association had held a light and sound performance called “Phuket Light Night at the Museum” in front of the two mentioned buildings to let people know that the two buildings will be modified to be a museum reflecting Phuket culture and tradition for Phuket heirs and visitors.
