Phuket Provincial Community Development revealed that the key strategy to push Phuket forward is to expand both domestic and overseas market. Until now Phuket already have roadshows in 6 cities abroad. For fiscal year 2010, the province got a million baht budget for roadshow events in Chiangmai and in Ubon Ratchathani.
They will also have an OTOP fair at Phuket’s Saphanhin exhibition center in April with 10 million baht budget.
From the roadshows, spicy shrimp paste (num prik kung seab) and products from Abalone are most welcome. The total sales amount reached THB 625 million that is calculated 80% of the total sales amount. Although it is during an economic recession, Phuket’s OTOP still got a good feedback from the market and that encourage province to push products to international market.
