Phuket Tsunami Warning Towers to be improved

On April 26th, Mr Rewat Areerob, Phuket member of the House of Representatives from Democrat Party, asked in Parliament meeting if Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) knew that 6 Tsunami Warning Towers didn’t go on on April 16th. He also asked how MICT will solve problems and those related to tourism issues.

Information and Communication Technology Minister, Anudit Nakorntap, explained “National Disaster Warning Center (NDWC) is in charge of this and has already been inspecting the towers every day. When earthquakes hit, NDWC notified residents to evacuate. However, some towers are on the process of being fixed.”

“For those who were affected, the government has compensated them. As for tourism, the government has already clarified residents, tourists, and entrepreneurs. If anything happens, we would like to ask residents to keep updated from the government because we always coordinate with NDWC,” Mr Anudit added.
