On March 9th 2011 at Phuket Merlin Hotel, Somkiat Sangkhaosutthirak, a Vice Governor of Phuket, presided over the opening ceremony of ‘Safe Vegetation Production Training’ held by the Phuket Agricultural Office.
Chalee Sittaboot, an Agricultural Specialist, said “the training is held to promote Phuket to be the Kitchen of the Andaman beginning with safe vegetation products. This will directly help the local farmers get more income. The main activities are training farmers about safe production of vegetation and promoting them when entering the market.
Since 2005, there have been 244 farmers whose products are guarantee by GAP. There will be 120 more farmers certified in GAP after completing this training. This will ensure that the food for tourists in Phuket is safe.”
