Tossaporn Thephabutr said strengthening Baht would not affect Phuket tourism this high season

Tossaporn Thephabutr

Tossaporn Thephabutr, the Vice President of Sport and Tourism Committee under the Lower House of  Representatives, and MP for Phuket, claimed  that the strengthening Baht currency would not affect Phuket tourism much in the coming high season. He said that the tourists did not mind paying 10-20% more when travelling in Thailand.

Tossaporn added that the friendly hospitable spirit of Thai people, even after disasters, was one thing that attracted tourists to come to Thailand apart from beautiful nature. Moreover, there was a new group of tourists from European countries who came for adventurous and ecology trips in Thailand. This group of tourists was increasing, as well as the tourists who were interested in cultural trips.

To support tourism in Phuket, Tossaporn said that there should enough staff to serve people in the hospitality services. Furthermore, these people should be trained in more foreign languages in order to serve tourists effectively.

Strong Baht no impact, i believe MP Khun Tossaporn, should talk to a few business people on the island, 90% of them will tell him that the strong Baht has a huge influence on what people buy, how much they buy . As a member of the tourism council he might want to get some funds to fix the same same old problems in Phuket. Better transportation, better envrionmental protection, e.g better waste managment, better water treatment plants, affordable transportation, cleaning up the garbage all around the island. These steps woluld def. improve outlook for tourism.
