Mr Chaiyaporn Pattanarak, Chief of Development at Phuket Provincial, revealed since Phuket has been promoted as one of the Meeting-Incentive-Convention-Exhibition Cities (MICE), 10% of MICE visitors have traveled to Phuket, the biggest markets being Europeans, Americans and Asians. Therefore, Phuket officials have facilitated those tourists by providing special packages which include special routes to the airport and special security.
Mr Thongchai Sridama, Board member and Acting President of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau or TCEB, disclosed “Phuket has been chosen as a destination for Amway seminars (Incentive) from April 15th-May 15th. Incentive and seminar markets are the biggest markets in MICE. Tens of billions of Baht are expected from different seminars this year.”
Deputy Governor for Asia and South-Pacific Markets at Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Mr Sansern Ngaorangsi said “The incentive market is a great market, which will boost Thailand’s tourism. The Chinese market is Thailand’s target and is growing. Also, Thailand has gained some revenue from Chinese Incentive markets.”
