Phuket throws 30 millions baht for Andaman Sea recovery

Pitul Panchaiyaphum, Director of Marine and Coastal Resources Conservation Centre Region 5 (Phuket) revealed that 30 millions baht more was budgeted by Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation (Or Bor Jor) for the sequel artificial reefs project of the Andaman Sea 2009- 2012.

After the centre has done with the seas around Yao Islands and Phuket Island’s since the 2004, they will carry on with the seas around Mai Khao beach – Naiyang beach, Bangtao bay – Kamala bay, Patong bay – Kata bay, including several areas between the offshore to the island’s shore such as in the sea between Bon island and Rawai beach.

Wannakiat Thubthimsang, Director of Phuket Marine Biological Centre told that now 70 percent of caused by tsunami damaged coral reefs has recovered.
