On October 9th 2013 at PPAO Council Meeting Room, PPAO Vice Chief Executive – Mr. Soratham Chinda, acting on behalf of PPAO Chief Executive – Mr. Paiboon Upattising, chaired a meeting to discuss preparations for the coming HijriYear 1435 Fair. He was joined by PPAOCouncil Member – Mr. Jeerasak Tortip, and Vice Governor of Phuket – Mr. Wacharin Patomwattapong.
PPAO plans to hold the Hijri Year 1435 Fair on November 8th & – 9th 2013, at the Sanamchai Field to enable Phuket’s Muslim population, and those from neighboring provinces, to celebrate their New Year. The fair also aims to inform the public about Islamic history and religious activities and to provide opportunities for local Muslim leaders to learn about Islam teachings. The meeting was held to ensure all committees concerned with the fair’s location, sound and light, stage entertainments, welcoming, stalls, PR, safety, medical service, and post-fair assessment are ready.
The Hijri year (AH anno hegirae) is the year-numbering system used in the Islamic calendar. It commemorates the Hijra, or the emigration of Muhammad and his followers to the city of Medina in 622 CE. The year 2013 CE corresponds to the Islamic years 1434–1435 AH.
