On 25th March 2014, Phuket Governor – Maitree Intusut presided over the opening of the new “Muang Naka Road” or Central Phuket Intersection Bypass Road. He was joined at the opening by PPAO Chief Executive – Paiboon Upatising, Phuket City Mayor – Somjai Suwansupana, Vichit Mayor – Kreeta Chotiwitpipat, Phuket Highways Office Director – Samak Lued Wonghad, Director of the Department of Rural Roads – Teeraporn Jirarattanakorn and Monthawee Hongyok from Anuphas Vividhkarn.
Khun Teeraporn said “The traffic in Phuket is now at a critical level with all main streets seeing very high volumes of traffic. Therefore, to relieve some of the congestion it was decided to construct some secondary roads to serve as bypasses. The first of these roads, Muang Naka Road, is now complete and the 7 meter wide road runs a distance of 1.25 km and used a budget of 19 million baht to construct. The land through which the road runs has been donated by the Anuphas Vividhkarn and Aekwanich families.”
