Tri Akaradecha, the Governor of Phuket, presided over a meeting to plan the construction of the Klong Koh Pee Road, the road which will connect the Sapahin area to Sakdidat Road. There were representatives from related sectors included Phuket City Plan Office, Phuket District Office, Phuket Environment and Natural Resource Office, and Department of Rural Roads who attended the meeting.
In the meeting, there was a report on the environmental impact caused from the road and the flyover construction. Another issue which needs to be considered is regarding the request to construct the road passing through the mangrove area. This request would be sent to the cabinet for approval later.
In addition, Phuket Rural Roads Office reported that if the cabinet approved the project, construction would commence in 2012. The estimated budget was 200 million baht. The road will be 2500 meter long parallel flyovers with u turns and bicycle lanes. The flyovers are 3 high over the ground. Tri said that the construction survey should be finished by 2011 and after the budget was approved the project could be started straight away.
