On February 26th 2011 at 6.30 p.m. Mr.Paiboon Upatising, the President of Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization (PPAO) led the executives of PPAO and PPAO staff to attend PPAO’s International Women’s Day Event held in the area of Sanam Chai. The opening of the event was presided over by Nalinee Akaradecha, the President of Phuket Red Cross. There were over 1,300 women, and representatives from organizations attended the event.
Mr.Paiboon said in the event that ‘In the past women was oppressed and they did not have much participation in social activities or social movement. This was the reason that the United Nation announced March 8th of every year to be the International Women’s Day.
PPAO as the local administrative organization working to develop quality of life of people in Phuket realizes the importance of developing women’s quality of life as well as their participation in social activities and social movement. Then PPAO hosts this event to create the strength of women network in Phuket by providing activities for them to do together, training them on essential law, giving them health conculting service, and listening to their problems and complains. Moreover, the outstanding women in the island are awarded in this event to commemorate their works and create the self esteem among them.” Meanwhile, Ms.Nalinee mentioned that “This event is the good opportunity that a lot of women get together to do good activities. The activities in the event promote them to be quality and healthy women. I have to say thank you PPAO and the people working behind to hold this event. Also congratulate the Hula Hoop team that won the competition today’.
