On November 23rd, at Phrapitak Grand Ballroom, Metropole Phuket Hotel, Pitak Direksoontorn, the Director of State Property Management Office 2, presided over the 3rd public hearing on the construction of Phuket International Conference and Exhibition Center. There were a lot of representatives from related sectors attending the event.
Pitak said that the conference and exhibition center would help in stimulating Phuket’s and nearby provinces’ economy as well develop the state properly making it more valuable. At the same time, it would also promote conference and exhibition trips in Phuket and make Phuket the best conference center in this region.
The conference center would be constructed on the state property in Mai Khao, Thalang, Phuket. This piece of land covered an area of 150 Rais. The construction would be mainly the responsibility of the Department of Treasury. The department provides a budget of 2,600 million baht for the construction by 2012. The budget was from Thai Kem Kang Project so the construction plan had to be adjusted following the project’s objectives. King Mongkut Institute of Thenologay Ladkrabang, was assigned to provide the construction plan, Environment Impact Analysis (EIA), survey, design and public hearings.
