Phuket holds lifeguard operations meetingOn October 29, 2013 at Karon Municipality office, Mayor of Karon – Mr. Tawee Thongchaem chaired a meeting to set up operational requirements for Phuket’s lifeguards who serve the island’s tourists on the beaches and also those who travel to and from the island by sea. Also in attendance were PPAO Deputy Chief Executive – Mr. Soratham Jinda, representing PPAO Chief Executive – Mr. Paiboon Upattising, and other local government officials.

The meeting set out a number of action plans to assist the large number of tourists who use Phuket’s beaches and those travelling to and from the island by sea, emphasizing the importance of the cooperation between all government sectors and private companies. Building a stronger network should result in systematic tourist support. The meeting also shared ideas about solving the ongoing and problematic issue of what increased measures can be put in place to warn tourists not to swim in red-flag areas, and a number of other issues which all fall within the framework of promoting a good image for Phuket tourism.
