On March 31st, 2010, Weerawat Aungsupanich, the director of Phuket Irrigation Project (PIP), led his staff to meet Wichai Praisa-ngob, the Governor of Phuket, to report on the progress of Klong Kata Dam construction in Chalong
sub-district. The dam will used to produce water supplied into the waterworks system of nearby communities and Muang district.
PIP has employed a contractor to construct the project with 449 million baht of budget and 900 days in employment contract. Yet, the construction could not begin as there has been a problem about land expropriation and some areas are located in a national preserved forest.
