On June 21st, 2011 – at 2.30pm, Sub lieutenant Thani Chuangcho, the new Deputy Director of Phuket International Airport, made a courtesy visit to Tri Augkaradacha Governor of Phuket at the town hall. He made the visit to introduce himself and to acknowledge the policies of the Governor. He also wanted to reassure the Governor that he wishes to work in the same direction.
The governor said “I will be happy to consult with the team at Phuket International Airport. The problems regarding the taxis have been going on for a long time, as have other problems, all of which affect the development of Phuket.”
Furthermore, the Deputy Director of Phuket International Airport also discussed the issue of land on which to build houses for the staff of Phuket International Airport. It is the airport’s intention to expand the airport to include housing for staff. However, there is currently no land available on which to construct housing for employees.
The designs for the expansion of the airport are now complete and construction is expected to begin in October 2011. Building work for the new airport is expected to take about two years with a budget of approximately 7,000 million Baht.
