On March 15th 2011, Mr.Niwit Aroonrat, a Vice Governor of Phuket, discussed with Kasushi Miyashita, the President of the Phuket Japanese Association, about establishing a donation center to gather money and essential items to help the people affected by the tsunami which hit Japan on March 11th 2011.
Niwit said “Phuket was helped by people from Japan when the island was hit by the tsunami in 2004. Therefore, the province and local residents would like to give assistance back to Japan that was seriously affected by the tidal wave and earthquake as well.” The donation center will open on March 16th 2011 (today). Anyone who would like to donate money or essential items can call 076 216333. The center will be open for 10 days, March 16th-26th 2011.
