23 days until Phuket Games 2012! Phuket Games 2012 will be held on May 26th-June 5th.
On May 4th, Deputy Governor Somkiat Sangkaosuttirak, PPAO president Paiboon Upatising, and Director of Sport Authority of Thailand Phuket Office Wirat Patee attended the 28th National Youth Games or “Phuket Games 2012” countdown at Surakul stadium.
Mr Somkiat said “It’s an honour to be hosting the 28th National Youth Games or “Phuket Games 2012.” We are ready to welcome all athletes, families, and staff from every province. We have clarified our readiness and preparation for natural disasters and especially security. We promise to provide visitors our very best security.”
“Opening and closing ceremonies will feature traditions and a combination of local and international performing arts, showing Phuket’s unique identity. It will also indicate Phuket is ready to be the center of tourism and sports,” Mr Somkiat added.
As for Mr Paiboon, the opening and closing ceremonies will be the highlights of the event. 10 million Baht is the total budget for both ceremonies. It’s very important for PPAO officials to build Phuket’s good reputation and to support youths to play sports.
“28th National Youth Games is held to celebrate 3 occasions: to celebrate His Majesty King Bhumibol, “King of Sports,” on his 85th Birthday, to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on her 80th Birthday and to celebrate His Royal Highness The Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn on his 60th Birthday,” Mr Paiboon added.
Mr Wirat added, “Phuket is ready to hold all 40 sports as there are 3 sport stadiums on the island. It’s expected that every stadium will be ready no later than May 20th.
