Phuket chosen as 1 of 16 good models in management in Southeast Asia

Somjai Suwansupana, the Mayor of Phuket City Municipality, said that Phuket was selected to be one of the 16 good model  cities with good management by the Partnership for Democratic Local Governance in Southeast Asia under the cooperative  organization of The Environmental Institute of Thailand, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, United Cities and Local Governments Asia-Pacific (UCLG-ASPAC), Local Government Development Foundation  (LOGODEF) with support from the European Commission.

The selection was held on June 10th – 12th 2010 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. There were 27 municipalities from five South East Asian countries including the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand presented at the selection. The criteria of the selection were that the presented municipality had to have good management in different aspects with the well known developing projects. Phuket was chosen as a good model for budget management and investment for local economic stimulation.
