Phuket Airport companies provide 60 more vehicles for passengers

Wichai Praisa-ngob, the Governor of Phuket, remarked  that Phuket International Airport had been pushed by the Ministry of Transportation to get rid of illegal taxis (black license plated taxis). The airport allowed Phuket Airport Limousine  and Business  Cooperative Ltd and Phuket Mai Khao Sakoo Co.Ltd , the companies that got transportation rights in the airport, to provide more vehicles to serve passengers flying to/from Phuket.

As a result, Phuket Mai Khao Sakoo Co.Ltd provided 30 more seven–seated vehicles; meanwhile, Phuket Airport Limousine  and Business  Cooperative Ltd added 30 twelve–seated mini-buses to serve at the airport as well. In addition, if tourists or visitors wanted to use the taxi meter service, they can call the taxis via the service phone number, however, 20 baht will be charged in the meter for calling. If the passengers want the airport staff to call the taxi for them, 100 baht will be charged in the meter for calling.

Wichai added that the government was trying to solve the problem of unfair taxi rates in Phuket by encouraging (all) the taxis to install meters in their cars to calculate reasonable transportation fees.
