Phuket to spend 7.7 billion baht in 2012 Provincial Development Plan

phuketOn November 15th, there was a meeting of the government officers and private sectors at the new Phuket Provincial Hall. The meeting was presided over by Tri Akadecha, the Governor of Phuket.

The meeting aimed to inform about the 2012 Provincial Development Plan which will focus on forest conservation, traffic and mass transportation, solving water shortage, tourism personnel shortage, public utilities development, and promoting quality of life.

Tri said that there were four dimensions of Phuket development plan namely:

  • World marine tourism strategy;
  • Self – sufficient strategy to enhance quality of life and local culture;
  • Sustainable development strategy;
  • & Excellent administration development strategy.

In 2012, there would 70 development projects in Phuket. Moreover, there were 51 other projects run by the ministries and departments, 39 projects run by local administrative organizations, and one project run under the participation between local community and private sectors. These 161 projects cost 7,789,036,007 baht of budget.
