Philippines Ambassador visited Phuket to discuss tourism

On September 3rd 2010, Wichai Praisa-ngob, the Governor of Phuket, welcomed H.E. Mrs. Linglingay F. Lacanlale, the Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Thailand who was posted to Bangkok on June 1st 2010, and her staff.

The ambassador said after meeting that Governor Wichai was the first provincial governor she had visited. After the trip in Phuket, she would continue her travel to visit the Governor of Udon Thani Province to tighten the relationship with the provinces in Thailand as well as exchange tourism information to each other. Governor Wichai told her that Phuket was visited by 5-6 million foreigners, more than Pattaya, mainly coming from Europe and Asia. The island offers approximately 50,000 rooms to the visitors.

There were many Philippines people coming to the island as well. Most of them came with career reasons. Now, there were 2,000 Filipinos residing and working in Phuket. Most of them worked in music related careers, like singing & instructors. The Ambassador hoped that there would be more opportunities to the Philippines and Phuket to exchange tourists with each other.
