On November 4th, Assoc. Prof. Pranee Sakulpipat, the President of Phuket Community Foundation, and its members, held a press conference about the 2nd PCF Race Day which would be on January 23rd 2011 in the area of Elephant Park, Laguna Phuket opposite Canal Village, at 10.00 a.m. – 7.00 pm. The rubber duck race named ‘Dream Gallery Great Phuket Rubber Duck Race’ and other fun activities would be for charity to generate money to support public benefit organizations in Phuket, the south of Thailand, and other parts of the country, as well as to promote the foundation to be recognized more.
Last year, there were 1000 rubber ducks sold by tickets for the event. This year, the foundation plans to sell 2000 rubber ducks at 150 baht each. PCF rubber ducks will be released into the canal with each rubber duck labeled with the name of the owner. The owner of the first rubber duck that reaches the finish line would get the first prize which is 3 day 2 night cruise trip for 10 people on ‘Silolona’ yacht worth 800,000 baht. There are a lot more prizes for other winners. The prizes are totally worth over one million baht, so far.
Apart from the rubber duck racing, there will dragon boat racing, kayak racing, rafting, and box boat racing on the same day. All money generated in the event will be used in public benefit activities and projects like toy libraries and rear light changing for motorbikes in Phuket. Moreover, the money would be used to support 11 social projects so far in Phuket, with more being considered.
