Khun Maitree said “There are a large number of Australian tourists arriving in Phuket each year. In addition to the regular tourists, there are also those who travel to receive medical services, particularly dental treatment which is so much cheaper here in Phuket than in Australia. This visit made by the Australian Embassy is to exchange views on the island’s tourism problems and what affect they are having on the industry. One of the main topics is that of the island’s traffic which is unfortunately often very dense, and what solutions can be found to help alleviate the problem. Mr. Kenna has advised me that Australia is in no means perfect and that it also has problems similar to those here in Phuket with regards to traffic and tourist administration.”
“We are 100% certain that we can take care of the safety of Australian tourists in Phuket. If there are problems that travelers experience or if they feel they have received a bad service, I personally request that they contact the Office of the Governor of Phuket directly” he added.
