Suwit Koonkitti opens Marine Rescue and Tourist Security Center in Phuket

Marine Rescue and Tourist Security Center in Phuket On January 17th 2011 at 9.00 a.m. Suwit Koonkitti, the Minister of Natural Resource and Environment, presided over the opening of the Marine Rescue and Tourist Security Center in Phuket and the diving training for the heads of the National Marine Parks.

Sunan Aroonnopparat, the Director of the National Park, Wildlife, and Vegetation Department, said there was a project called SAMPA which had been set up to train the marine rescuers in 6 National Marine Parks. To extend this training, the Marine Recue Center in Phuket was established to be the center for rescue and rescue training for the National Park Officers in this region.

On December 11th-12th 2010 there was training held at the Operational Centre at National Park 1 Andaman, Phuket. The training was held with support from France.
