On November 26th, at the meeting room of the new Phuket Provincial Hall, Tri Akaradecha, the Governor of Phuket, presided over a meeting to discuss preparation for Phuket’s celebration of H.M. the King Bhumipol’s auspicious 83rd birthday on December 5th 2010. There were representatives from related government and private sectors attending the meeting. Apart from this, the annual garden reception to be held at the Governor’s House on December 8th, was discussed in the meeting as well.
Tri said that on December 5th, there would be activities allowing Thai citizens to honor and celebrate the king’s birthday. The event would be held at the Queen’s Park on Dibuk Road. At 7 a.m. there would be merit making to monks then a signing ceremony at Community Hall to wish HM the King a happy birthday. At 9.00 a.m. public servants would take an oath of allegiance to be honest citizens. At 5.30pm, at the central stage, Sapan Hin Park, there would be more public activities when anyone can join in lighting candles and singing anthems, along with the whole country at nationwide ceremonies to celebrate HM the King’s birthday.
