Kathu Municipality launches its 2nd Cultural Street Event

On June 16th 2010, at Rachinee Conference Room of Phuket Tin Mine Museum, Prof. Dr. Apinan Posayanond, the Deputy  Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Culture, presided over the press conference of the 2nd Kathu Cultural Street Event. Those present were Teerayuth Aiumtrakul – a Vice Governor of Phuket; Bangornrat Shinaprayoon – Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)’s Phuket office; Chaianan Sutthikul – Kathu Mayor, Tawichart Intarit – Head of Phuket Cultural Office; and Siripat Pattanakul – Kathi district Chief Officer.

Chaianan said that the event would be held during June 25th – 27th 2010 in order to promote the community’s economy and to show people the original way of life of people in Kathu. Apart from shop booths and exhibitions, there would be a light and sound performance feathering life of Kathu villagers. People could enjoy shopping and eating local food on the mentioned days.
