Donations in Phuket to flood victims worth a total of 14 million baht

On November 9th, Tri Akaradech, the Governor of Phuket, presided over a press conference giving information about the donations from Phuket residents to help flood victims. Tri said that the Phuket provincial government had established the donation center to gather money and supplies to help people affected by floods in many areas of Thailand.

The first lot of donations was sent up to people in the northern areas on October 19th. The second lot of donations was sent to Chainart province by Jui Tui Shrine Foundation. After the southern area flooding, the province released the third lot of donations to Hat Yai. The fourth lot of supplies was to help people in Surat Thani; there were two vehicles which took the stuff supported by the Phuket Red Cross. At the beginning of the donations there were donated essential items worth 4-5 million baht and approximately four hundred thousand baht of money in the bank account.

The province held a big donation day to gather items and money again on November 6th at Phuket Merlin Hotel. The supplies donated on the day were worth 7 million baht and there was about 3 million baht of cash also donated. The items received on the day were sent to help people in Hat Yai, Songkhla, Pattalung, Nakornsrithammarat, and Surat Thani. It was concluded that in total there were 11 million baht worth of donated items and about 3 million baht of money donated by Phuket residents. This excluded cooking and other medical services sent to help people in the flooded areas
