After there was a report that a boat named Ladawan 2 owned by West Coast Divers Co. Ltd was on fire in the repair dock of Rassada Sub-district, near Phuket city, it was found that there were three people injured by the fire. They were taken to Wachira hospital and one had severe burns on 4% of his body.
The police presumed that the fire might have been caused by the carelessness of the engineers who were assigned to fix the exhaust and to clean the engine. However, they had to wait for the results from the scientists to see what exactly caused the fire.
The Ladawan 2 boat was 8-9 years old. It used to carry 30 passengers from Tab Lamu Port to Similan Islands during November to May every year. Before it caught fire, the boat was being checked to see if it was ready for the first trip this year on November 1st 2010. It was estimated that the damage cost 10 million baht.
