Deputy Minister of Interior satisfied with Phuket Provincial Police Station’s helmet wearing campaign

On July 7th 2010, Mr. Thaworn Senneam, Deputy Minister of Interior and his staff visited the Phuket Provincial Police Station to follow up the campaign encouraging Phuket residents to wear helmets while they were driving or riding on motorbikes. He was briefly informed about the results of the campaign by the police officers before visiting the training room used for lectures & videos, showing accidents to the people who were fined or brought in for driving without a helmet.

Thaworn said that he saw around 95% of people wore helmets along the way from Phuket International Airport to Phuket Town, as there were only a few people driving their motorbikes without helmets. He commented that the campaign of Phuket Provincial Police Station was a good way to persuade people in Phuket to wear helmets. He further suggested that the provincial police stations in other provinces should use this campaign as a model to encourage their riders to wear helmets as well.
