On March 25th 2013 at the PPAO Council meeting room, Advisor to PPAO Chief Executive – Mr.Jirasak To-tip presided over a meeting to plan for strategic community tourism in Phuket. The meeting was attended by 15 communities of the Phuket’s Community Tourism Network together with other involved organizations.
Mr.Jirasak To-tip said to the meeting that the 15 communities of the Phuket’s Community Tourism Network need to be prepared in planning for strategic community tourism in Phuket.
The 15 communities who attended the meeting exchanged their own individual opinions together with an education agency from Phuket Rajabhat University, which have been appointed to do research study. In 2007 PPAO supported a budget for 6 communities involved in the Community Tourism Network which included Baan Kuku, Bo-Rae, Paklok, Koean, Baan Kanan and Ban Liporn.
President of the Phuket Tourist Association also attended the meeting and agreed that the Association would be pleased to provide the Network with support in marketing. However, it was advised that the Network plan trips to visit the Koh Yao district and Phang Nga province both of which have already been successfully involved in community tourism and have received numerous awards for homestays, environmental issues and also for creating products which have created incomes for the local community”.
