Phuket Provincial Public Health Office trained people to be handicap and chronic patient caretakers


On September 28th, Paiboon Upattising, the President of Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization or PPAO, presided over a meeting to discuss the results and knowledge got from the training of caretakers for handicapped and chronic patients held in 2010. There were lots of related government officers and private sectors attending the meeting.

Dr. Wiwat Sitamanote, the Deputy Head of Phuket Provincial Public Health Office, said that the meeting aimed to find out ways to develop the handicapped and chronic patients’ caretakers training as well as the system to help those patients efficiently. The training had been held since December 2009 to September 2010. The result of the training was satisfactory. 126 people passed the training to be the community’s handicapped people’s caretakers and 3 people passed the training to be chronic patients’ caretakers. There were 356 handicapped and chronic patients assisted continuously. Moreover, the staff of Phuket Provincial Public Health Office had been visiting and giving air beds, mucus suckers, diapers, and sanitary pads to those patients over the year.
