Acting chief of Passport Office Phuket, Bongkot Srinark said People in Phuket can now apply for passport without leaving the island to Bangkok or Suratthani Province anymore.
The office has already open for passport service since 1st October this year. However, not many people know that so they need a good good publicity.
There were 100 applicants on the first day of operation. After that the average is at 60 people a day.
Documents required when applying for a Thai passport for people ages 20 years and above is only an ID card and a copy.
For minors (under 20 years of age), things are complicated, they requires;
1. Birth certificate for new born -14 years or identity card for children ages 15-20 years old.
2. Marriage Registration Certificate of mother and father.
3. Identity cards of mother and father.
4. Consent of parents or legal guardian (s) Minors under 15 years of age must come to the passport office with both father and mother or legal guardian (s). In case one of the parents is unable to come , he/she must sign a letter of consent, which must be brought to the office by the other parent and the minor. Minors over 15 years of age can apply for a passport with a letter of consent alone signed by both father and mother or legal guardian (s).
Application fees: Baht 1,000 for a 32-page passport. Plus postal service fee Baht 35, the totol fee will be Baht 1035. Your passport will be sent to your address within a week.
Passport Office Phuket is located in the new buiding of the City Hall opens from Monday – Friday 8.30 – 16.30. Closed Saturday-Sunday and public holidays.
