Asia Pacific Advertising Festival 2011 (ADFEST) is ready to ring in the new era, setting off the advertising industry with the theme “Jump Start,” for the ad-related industries and those interested to partake in fresh new ideas from all creative thinkers of the Asia Pacific Region. This year, ADFEST has received a surge of interested contestants totaling over 2,800 submissions into 15 Lotus categories, and is expected to draw in around 1,000 participants this year. The event will be held from March 17-19, 2011 at Movenpick Resort and Spa, Karon Beach, Phuket.
Mr. Vinit Suraphongchai, Chairman of ADFEST Working Committee remarked, “The cancellation of ADFEST 2010 brings challenges for us to come up with new strategies to make 14th ADFEST bigger and better than ever. This year, we have made changes to the format and style to make it fresher, but maintaining the highest standards and professionalism.” Most importantly, this year’s ADFEST received great attention and support from government and private sectors, such as the DEP (Department of Export Promotion) and Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB). These organizations have extended their enthusiastic support to ADFEST and recognized the importance of enhancing creative excellence in the advertising and related industries of the Asia Pacific region. Especially for Thailand, which is widely regarded as a one of the leading markets in creativity in the region, this will encourage organizations and the public to lend support and interest to the creative field and its significant impact to the economic development.
ADFEST 2011 commences with the “Jump Start” theme that not only represents the revived inspiration for advertising professionals, but also ADFEST’s reconfirmation as a leading advertising event with renewed energy. It is also a good opportunity for the newer generation to learn from experienced creative individuals in the field. ADFEST organizers hope that this assembly will be a driving force for inspiration and creativity that will heighten the creative standard in the region,” Mr. Vinit added.
Aside from the 13 Lotus categories, this year, ADFEST has added 2 more categories called “Promo Lotus” which is an award for promotional activities that centers around creativity, but also has measurable results, such as discounts, free samples and limited offers. The other is called “Lotus Roots” that is inspired from the tagline “Made in Asia,” where awarded works are those that embrace the Asian lifestyle and culture. These new categories have drawn in more than 275 entries.
To add more fun and color to the event, ADFEST has also prepared exciting narrations, personal stories and case studies which are noteworthy contents to inspire creativity and fresh perspectives for our participants. The event will also have prominent people of the industry, such as Washington Olivetto (WMcCann, Sao Paolo) to speak on the subject Advertising and Pop Culture, Simon Sankarayya (D&AD President) to speak about The Chocolate Room, Doug Scott (One Show Entertainment) to lecture on The Elusive Art of Branded Entertainment, Francois Chilot (YDA President) to speak about Similarities and Differences of Young Directors in America, Europe and Asia.
