22 September 2009 – The coordinator of US Navy ships scheduled to dock at Makham Bay during September 22-27 met Governor Wichai Praisa-ngob and Rear Admiral Amornchote Sujirat (Deputy Director for provincial internal security) yesterday to extend an invitation for them to visit their warships.

USS Ronald Reagan to which Phuket’s press invited to visit today, is a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. The ninth ship of the class “Nimitz”. It is named in honor of former President Ronald Reagan, President of the United States from 1981 to 1989. Further, USS Ronald Reagan was the first ship to be named for a living former president.
