Phuket discusses ways of preventing Patong floodsOn 8th November 2012 at Phuket City Hall, Patong Mayor – Mr.Pean Keesin hoeld a meeting with Phuket Governor – Mr.Maitree Inthusit to discuss ways of resolving the flood problems in Patong.

Mr.Pean said “We have a permanent solution for the floods which are experienced at Phungmuang Sai Kor Road, which is now under construction and is the responsibility of the highway department. It is estimated it will take around one and a half years to complete. The construction will use more than 200 million baht of the highway department’s budget. However, Patong municipality has assisted by giving ten million baht to purchase land at the corner of the intersection.”

He added “Another way to solve the problem is development of Klong Pakbang which requires addition flood protection. This work will require an estimated 20 million for case study and the construction of the whole system will need an estimated 300-400 million. The governor understands the problem and has advised me that he will accept the study project first and will look into the budget after that has been received.”
