On 24th August 2012 at Phuket Merlin Hotel Director of Country Planning and Phuket Public Works, Mr.Wongsakorn Noonshukan, together with relevant agencies, held a 2nd meeting for the selected area and prevention & reduction of environmental impact for a transport network connecting Chalong & Patong in Phuket, many local people were in attendance.
The government has recognized the importance for the development of a Chalong – Patong road, the existing route, originally for use as a transport route for the agricultural communities of Kathu area and Chalong, now being more than 20 years and in a bad state of repair and seen as inconvenient. The Chalong – Patong is all part of a route plan to connect new transport links from the city and Patong.
The new planned is to improve the old road and make it into a 2 lane road, which will allow private cars and small commuter to travel more easily and safely. It will be 3.10 miles long and will run from Luang Pu Supa Moo 6 in Chalong to Sirirat 50 Years Road in Patong.
The new road has been allocated a construction budget of about 100 million, which will include lighting. It is expected that the results of the study will complete by October 2012.
