On 13th December 2012 at the Cherng Talay Administrative Organization Office, Mayor of Cherng Talay – Mr.Mar-ann Samran presided over a meeting to discuss about the monuments in Surin which was built to honor His Majesty the King. Also in attendance at the meeting were Miss Punyawee Thongsiriset – PR Phuket, Dr.Sommai Pinphuthasilp – President Phuket History Group, Mr.Wachira Sakulchit – Chief Administrator of the SAO and the relevant government agencies.
Dr.Sommai said “Surin beach is a historic landmark which welcomed His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen in March 1959. We want to improve the building and make it a learning centre which will house historical photographs of travelers and the royal monarchy.”
