Phuket starts New Year road safety campaignOn 25th December 2012 at Phuket Vocational College, Mr.Maitree Inthusut – Governor of Phuket opened the operations center of “Prevent and Reduce Road accidents During the New Year 2013” and signed memorandum of understanding for the “100% Safe with a Helmet” campaign which began as a model in the school.

Mr.Maitree said “During the 7 days of the New Year Festival we will have 10 checkpoint stations and 17 mobile checkpoints in operation. It is our aim is to see zero loss of life during this period, with no more than 76 injuries. If we can achieve at least this we have reduced the figures by 5 percent on last year.”

The campaign “100% Safe with a Helmet” campaign yesterday saw a delivery of 400 helmets for the students. It is hoped that by giving out these helmets it will prevent and reduce those affected by road accidents in Phuket during the New Year 2013 and forever.
