Yesterday, the 17th October 2012 saw the second day of the Vegetarian Parade’s Eaw-Kang parade, and this time around it was Sapam Shrine’s turn to take center stage. Phuket town was crowded with about 2,000 Thai’s and tourists, especially long Mon Tri Road and at Surin Circle.
The parade started at Sapam Shrine and arrived at Surin Circle at 9.45 am. From that time on Phuket Town was full of smoke and the sound of fire crackers. The government now only allows only red fire crackers and the size of the crackers are limited so as they don’t cause too much noise and ensures more safety for everybody involved.
The government has recently put out a warning to anyone whose vehicle is powered by gas to be aware of stray fire crackers; there are now a number of large signs around Phuket Town and at the participating shrines, in both Thai and English.
