Phuket’s ‘Safety Zone’ project to go nationwide

Phuket’s ‘Safety Zone’ project to go nationwidePolice General Chaleamkert Sriworakan recently held at training activity for police and volunteers involved with the “Patong Safety Zone” project. The event was held at Patong’s Phuket Graceland Resort & Spa and saw more than 150 people in attendance.

The “Patong Safety Zone” project is the pilot project which looks for the help of the public in reporting crimes within their dedicated areas in Patong.  It is also hoped that the project will also create a better relationship between the police and general public, and improve the safety confidence of tourists, both Thai and foreigner.

Police General Chaleamkert said “The Safety Zone project, the pilot of which is here in Patong, will be rolled out to 353 police stations in Thailand. The tourism industry makes a great deal of money for the country and the government realizes the importance of this. Therefore, all sectors need to work together for the good of the country and its reputation.”
