On 16th Aug 2012 at Phuket Provincial Prison, Phuket Provincial Chief Administrative Officer Mr.Chaiwat Taepee, together with Mr.Rapin Nichanon – Commander of Phuket Provincial Prison, Mr.Theerawut Sriturarak – Chairman of Jui Tui Tao Bo Keng Foundation, guests of honor, prisoners and their families attended an event entitled ‘Forgiveness for 2012’, held to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 80th Birthday.
Mr.Rapin said “According to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great Kingdom is pleased to proclaim that, to commemorate August 12th 2012, the occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 80th birthday 28th July 2012, and His Majesty’s Crown Prince Maha Wachiralongkorn on the occasion of the fifth round, there should be amnesty for prisoners, providing them with an opportunity to behave as good citizens. Phuket’s Provincial Prison has 750 inmates who have received a special pardon. Today we will release 175 inmates, 159 women and 16 men. The other 575 inmates have received reductions in their sentences.” He added “Those prisoners who have been granted amnesty should act as good members of society and make themselves good so they will be accepted back into society.”
Mr.Chaiwat said “To anyone who has been released, please use the knowledge you have gained from vocational training here and make it beneficial to the country. The most important thing for you to do is to remember to bow to the King and Queen’s for their grace. I hope all of you will carry out good deeds, work in good faith, dedicate yourselves as good citizens of society, and use and be led by the initiative sufficiency economy philosophy of His Majesty the King.”
