On 26th October 2012, Deputy Governor of Phuket – Mr.Somkiet Sangkhaosutthirak and Director of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) – Mr.Suthat Pathamasiriwat co-chaired the opening ceremony of Phuket’s 3rd High Voltage Power Station. Many Government officials attended the ceremony to join the celebrations. The new station is located at Moo 4, Tambon Koh Kaew, Muang, Phuket.
Mr.Suthat said “Phuket’s 3rd High Voltage Power Station was constructed using a budget of approximately 500 million baht. In the future this station will able to accommodate up to 600 MW (now stands at 350 MW). Phuket has to continuously develop its high voltage power stations and it is our goal to operate a 500 KV electric transmission line from Surat Thani to Phuket in the future.”
Mr.Suthat added “EGAT is confident that the launch of this new station will reduce Phuket’s problem of power failure. The electrical network system is a high-voltage transmission line with international standards. However, there may sometimes be some problems in the distribution system.”
