The Ministry of Energy and APERC created a project named “Phuket Low Carbon Model Town”, this due to the fact that Phuket is one of several cities around the world with a goal of reducing carbon dioxide gas sewing.
On June 15th, at Phuket City Hall’s Meeting Room, Somkiat Sungkhawsuthirak Deputy Governor of Phuket, acting as Chairman, held a meeting entitled “Phuket Low Carbon Model Town,” also in attendance were with a team from the Ministry of Energy and the Asia Pacific Energy Research Center (APERC).
The Ministry of Energy and APERC has previously determined that Phuket is one of several cities around the world that has low carbon dioxide sewing and now a working group has been set up to ascertain the feasibility of how Phuket can be transformed into a low-carbon city.
Phuket will be a city that has a clear project plan for reducing energy use and energy consumption with the publics support.
Jirasak Thammavej of the Phuket Energy Office said Phuket already has plans to significantly reduce power consumption with the “Phuket Green” project. The project’s aim is environmental protection, to implement the use of alternative energy in all forms and to reduce the use of fossil (oil), the later of which has been done for some time.
As examples energy conservation in hotels and large establishments can be achieved as has been in the past at the Vachira Hospital Phuket, which reduced energy consumption by 7 million Baht per year.
