On January 17th 2011, at Phuket Community Hall, Niwit Aroonrat, Vice Governor of Phuket, presided over the meeting of the Committee of Public Utility. The meeting’s main agenda was about alternative energy resources.
Somsak Thanomworasin, the President of the committee said the committee was studying on 3 main areas of energy development: community & alternative energy resources, a railway connecting Southern and Northern regions and the Phuket City plan development. He added that an alternative energy development in Phuket would be done under a concept called ‘Green City’ as used in many developed countries. The possible energy sources in Phuket are windmills, solar cells and biodiesel.
