Phuket worries about land slides and keeps an eye on hill projects

phuketAt a meeting on 14 December at the Office of Natural Resources and Environment Conference in Phuket, about primary environmental impact reports and the result of environmental impacts in environmental prevention areas in Phuket, there was consideration of the environmental impacts from 26 construction projects around the island and a report on primary environmental impacts from a residence project called ‘Panaya’, detail change application for 59 rai of land from ‘The Indy 2’, and condominium detail change application for 79 units from ‘Sea Pearl Villas’.

From October 8th – November 4th 2010, there were 26 projects submitting primary environmental impact reports and environmental impact reports to the province. The province then assigned the specialists to survey the areas of those 26 projects such as a 116 unit condominium project called ‘The Scenery @ Suan Luang’, water treatment system construction of Kamala Sub-district Organization, and 42 rooms at ‘Ploy Mansion’. From the surveys, the specialists worried that the big construction projects located on hills might be risky producing land slides, especially during heavy rain.
